A big welcome forClick here to visit CVizz.com in a new window CVizz, the IIA’s newest members. CVizz is an on-line VideoCV builder and hosting service that allows Graduates & Post Graduates to create and present a VideoCV profile to numerous employers. As a recent enough jobseeker myself I can really see how being able to point potential employers to a short video about your skills and experience could certainly make you stand out from the crowd. CVizz are already getting some notice from other bloggers most notably Ivan at JobsBlog.ie and the HR and Recruitment blog. Unlike me, these bloggers know what employers and candidates want, so check out what they have to say. Marie Carroll CEO of CVizz tells me that CVizz have great plans that are about to come to fruition so watch this space!

There is no better person than Marie to bring some life and innovation into the Irish online recruitment market. Especially in the times like today where the economy is everything but glooming. Fresh ideas in the recruitment process are more than welcome, both to streamline the process and to bring the recruitment prices down.

    Go Marie, Go!!!

The VideoCV is very popular worldwide and taking off in Ireland. CVizz and Marie seems to be leading the way here. This is an excellent tool for employers to shortlist jobseekers. It is also an excellent platform for jobseekers to pitch themselves to potential employers – a CV with a personality!!

Hi there just to let you know cvizz.com is relaunching the website 2nd week in October 2008 with a brand new marketing campaign as we go live to present cvizz at most of the career fairs around Ireland over the next few months. Cvizz will also present at the main Graduate Careers Fair at the RDS on October 14th ’08. We will be sponsoring the production of some new video footage by NCAD artist Lorcan McDonnell which will be on display at the fair. So watch out for us and pop in to say hi.

Great idea – look forward to the relaunch and new features. I think too many employers have arbitrary filters when thumbing through paper CVs – so often they bin candidates based on set criteria. Sometimes necessary of course, but traditional CVs do not convey the person in full – their interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and even temperament. Not saying video CVs will show the “true” person, but it’s a step closer to a more accurate evaluation of someone before calling them in for an interview.

Really quite interesting in that, although no one is saying/writing about it out loud, this video format lends itself to a positive/negative type of discrimination ( from a company’s point of view ).

Hold those guns please… I am too frail to be blasted properly anyway lol.

In the far east, resumes often include pictures of the individual applying for a job. HR can quickly say, too young, too old, not dressed properly blah blah blah – direct from a picture even without truly reading the resume itself.

No self respecting HR would do that, right?

    Ok, question already answered…

But these new video formats now that’s really interesting.

This allows someone who is otherwise non-photogenic, but who is otherwise high energy and an obvious team player to really show case their talents.

Well, i am saying that thats what the format allows, but how many people actually think of using it in this way?

Most definitely an interesting knife/tool with the ability to cut in multiple directions.

Dunno, but i would love to see some of the actual videos.

It’s a handsome site and has a really simple feel to it. The idea’s been around for a while and we built a video CV site a few years ago but things have really changed in recruitment and also – significantly – in video tecyhology and a video cv seems so much more normal for a recruitment website these days than it used to. Good luck to them in getting good candidates to their clients.
